Paul Richardson

Paul Richardson is a photographer, videographer, author, and marketing consultant.

A graduate of Central College (Pella, IA), Richardson received an MA (Political Science) and Russian Area Studies Certificate from Indiana University, Bloomington. In 1989 and 1990, he lived and worked in Moscow, running one of the first successful Soviet-Western joint ventures, a publishing company based in Moscow.

Richardson founded StoryWorkz in 1990, and the company has published some of the finest writing in English on Russia, including two national-award-winning translations of Russian classics.

Richardson is the author of Driving Down Russia's Spine, as well as co-creator of the short documentary Resilience, and a book of the same name – about 22 Russian centenarians born in 1917. In 2018 he received Indiana University’s Russian and East Europan Institute's Distinguished Alumnus Award.

While StoryWorkz continues to publish Russian Life magazine, chronicling those who are resisting the Kremlin's authoritarianism and imperial aggression, the company in 2008 pivoted away from things Russian, using its experience in publishing and marketing to help companies and organizations tell their stories with greater impact and engagement, with particular emphasis on photography and videography.

Richardson's photography has been published in, among others: Haute Living, Vermont Life, Seven Days, California Wine and Travel, Russian Life, Palm Beach Illustrated, GB Opera Magazine,, Women’s World, California Home Design, Robb Report, Hidden Europe, ProSales, LA Daily News, Arts Beat LA, the Barre Montpelier Times-Argus, the San Francisco Chronicle/, and the late, great Vermont Life Calendars.

Richardson is a member of the board of directors of Elevate Youth Services.
